Construction Supervisor

About the role

 

As a Construction Supervisor you will be responsible for onsite supervision of the subcontractors’ construction works on solar EPC projects including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance, quality, schedule and integration control.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements and advise the Construction Manager.
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. 
  • Generate check-lists containing all technical, environmental and safety activities on site and monitor the subcontractors’ work accordingly.
  • Report any deviations from the Scope of Works to the Construction Manager along with any unsafe act/conditions, any quality concerns/defective work and any environmental concerns/contraventions. 
  • Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Construction Supervisor will work with all parties, including Purchasing & Logistics, System Design, Specialist Consultants, Suppliers, Subcontractors, Client to ensure compliant project execution.

 

Candidate requirements 

 

juwi is looking for the following qualifications, experience and personal attributes:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical /Civil).
  • Minimum of 5 years construction supervision experience in construction -solar experience is an asset-. 
  • Solid knowledge of construction, labour, environmental and safety requirements & legislation.
  • Excellent command of MS Office, MS Project,  AutoCAD etc
  • Fluent in Greek and in English (verbal & writing).
  • Strong communication skills, able to resolve labour conflict.
  • Willing to travel frequently within Greece and stay long periods away. 
  • Valid driving license is needed.

Civil Construction Manager

About the role

 

As a hands-on Civil Construction Manager, you will be responsible for on-site management and construction of solar EPC projects in Greece & EMEA region from construction planning to commercial operation and handover, including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Accomplish construction project results by defining civil related project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating sub-contractors and staff that reports to him/her; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; evaluating and implementing change orders.
  • Formal construction management in accordance with company procedures & processes, legislation, standards and industry best practices; including technical, cost, schedule, quality, and stakeholder aspects. 
  • Ensure compliance with specifications and requirements (technical drawings and calculations, material specs, construction quality, tests, commissioning and handover).
  • Responsible for achieving construction schedule and subcontractor payment milestones, including preparation/ compilation of all supporting documentation.
  • Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements in the Region.
  • Responsible for handover of the project to Operations & Maintenance team.
  • The Construction Manager will report to the EPC Project Manager. Will work in cross-functional project management teams with Project Management, Acquisition, Project Purchasing, System Design, Specialist Consultants, Clients and the Utility (if applicable) to ensure compliant project execution.

 

Candidate requirements

 

juwi is looking for the following qualifications, experience and personal attributes:

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering. Must have signature right.
  • 7 years experience of construction management with proven track record of successfully delivered RES projects. 
  • Solid understanding of health and safety requirements. Experience in solar market and in High Voltage related infrastructure will be considered as an asset.
  • Solid understanding of standard contract forms and contract management.
  • Excellent command of MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD etc and best practices.  
  • Fluent in Greek and in English (verbal & writing).
  • Excellent communication skills: able to communicate across levels both internally and externally. 
  • Ability of working autonomously, decision making and problem solving.  
  • Team player with evident leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in matrix organizations, to operate and to navigate in a multinational environment.

On-site Logistics Coordinator

About the role

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for on-site logistics planning and coordination on solar PV EPC projects in Greece including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance, quality, schedule and integration control.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Construction Manager, the on-site Logistics Coordinator will work with Project Purchasing, off-site Logistics, Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure compliant project execution. 
  • Managing and planning of on-site logistics, supported by the Supply Chain Manager/ off-site Logistics Coordinator.
  • Responsible for laydown & staging area, incoming & outgoing transport flow and on-site route planning in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Monitor traffic management, coordination with neighbouring projects including provincial & access road condition inspections prior to sensitive equipment deliveries. Responsible for observing maximum transportation loads and vehicle lengths.
  • Responsible for incoming goods receipt, quality inspections, offloading & placement and associated supporting documentation as required in order to achieve contractual obligations and payment milestones. Close collaboration with Accounting department.
  • Monitor on site material stock levels in accordance with the project schedule and provide early warning for potential construction risks/ delays.
  • Implement the required systems, processes, documents, templates, etc. required for:
    • Supplier/ subcontractor warehousing and delivery tracking
    • Incoming inspections and goods receipt
    • Claims management
    • On site storage and stock levels
  • Ensure compliance with the project Health and Safety regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements in Greece.
  • Determine logistics and offloading resource (persons and equipment) levels to attain schedule milestones and ensure conformance with the construction plan.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports & records.
  • Ensure risk assessments, method statements and rigging studies are submitted and approved prior to on site delivery, offloading and placement.
  • Liaising with suppliers and forwarding companies, resolving issues.
  • Training of unskilled resources to perform incoming inspections and goods receipt.

 

Candidate requirements

  • Supply chain, logistics, procurement, business management and/or engineering background
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role at comparable level
  • Good communication skills, able to communicate at all levels and resolve labour conflict
  • A proven track record in successfully implementing construction logistics for projects
  • Demonstrable experience of managing Subcontractors to stringent time and quality metrics
  • Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite, including MS Project
  • Conversant with construction, labour, environmental and safety requirements and legislation
  • Fluent in English and Greek

 

Desirable attributes

  • Experience in working within the Renewable Energy Sector, preferably photovoltaics. 
  • Qualification and experience in working with forklifters / telehandlers or similar machinery.

  • National and international travel may be required in line with business requirements

Control Room Operator

About the role

 

The Control Room Operator will be manning the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Control Room, which is currently under development. He/she will be responsible for continuously monitoring and analysing the operation and performance of the PV plants under O&M by juwi within EMEA and alerting the local teams in case of incidents

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Utilize the remote monitoring system installed in the PV plants, to continuously check the smooth running of all equipment (inverters, strings, sensors, etc). Analyze the daily performance of the PV plants, based on pre-specified procedures. Identify, investigate (at first level), record, communicate and follow up on any incident of technical failure or underperformance of the equipment, on a clearly structured way.
  • Exploit all potentials of the existing remote monitoring systems and contribute in the further development of monitoring tools, processes and procedures.
  • Closely cooperate with local EMEA O&M teams, as well as juwi´s HQ in Worrstadt-Germany.
  • Work in shifts, covering all sunshine hours for EMEA region, for 365 days per year.
  • Situated in Athens´s juwi office.   

 

Candidate requirements

  • Degree (TEI or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience, of at least 2 years, in the monitoring of PV plants or other power generating plants
  • Experience in the Operation and Maintenance of PV plants
  • Experience in the operation of MV substations would be beneficial
  • Good communicator on an international level
  • Excellent knowledge of English language (both spoken and written)
  • Reliable and responsible character
  • Good level of IT skills (MS Word, Excel, etc)
  • Willing to work in shifts (daytime only), covering 365 days per year.
